ATLANTA BLOGGERS HORSE AROUND AT SUNSET PICNIC

Media guests are introduced to horseback riding at new Atlanta 

equestrian center

 

(Atlanta, GA) Pure Horse Play, Atlanta’s newest equestrian center, invited a small group of lifestyle bloggers to a special Blogger version of their signature Sunset Picnic on Tuesday, June 24th. The family owned facility offers several packages that include everything from horseback riding, equestrian teams and summer camps, to romantic sunset picnics for couples. The owner Michelle Phillips runs the facility along with her three daughters. “Initially this was just a way for me to spend time with my daughters as they were getting older. Eventually people saw what we were doing and started to ask how they could learn as well,” explained Phillips,” the next thing I knew we were in the horse business.”

Phillips kicked off the evening by introducing her precious stars of Pure Horse Play, the horses.  Guests were given the history of each horse and had the opportunity to pet each horse and learn a little about their personality.  Phillips then took guests to the training circle for a quick tutorial on how to properly ride and let whoever wanted to join get on their own horse. “I feel that it is very important that our guests get the opportunity to learn a little about riding a horse from day one. We want you to learn and feel what it’s like to be on horse. This is not just a follow-the-leader trail ride,” says owner.

Following the tutorial, guests were escorted to the riding trail and were given a presentation on what Pure Horse Play’s Sunset Picnic package would look like. At the end of the riding trail, there was a candle lit covered picnic table with a basket full of desserts and a bottle wine for guests to enjoy. Although guests enjoyed the sunset picnic simulation, information on the riding lessons and summer camps held the attention of the crowd.  Phillips discussed the positive effects of animal on children and how they see a difference in many of their campers. “We know that riding and caring for horses is therapy for children and adults. We have seen a difference in students when they start at Pure Horse Play compared to after a few lessons.  It really teaches responsibility and allows children to connect on a level they aren’t often exposed to today,” Phillips states. She explained how many children with disabilities and even autistic children have shown great progress when exposed to horses.

The evening concluded with Michelle Phillips inviting guests to return for the facilities 1st annual Independence Day concert.  The family friendly event will feature kiddie games, music, fireworks and of course horseback riding. (Los Angeles, CA) Actor and dancer Robert Hoffman (Step Up 2: The Streets, 90210) will host truTV's new series Fake Off, which will feature ten teams from around the country competing against each other in the captivating art of Faking. The teams better bring their A-game to every performance, as they will face an impressive judging panel that includes music superstar and five-time Grammy winner Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas of the mega-group TLC; actor-dancer-choreographer Harry Shum Jr. (Glee, The LXD); and world renowned visual & concept designer Michael Curry (Broadway’s The Lion King, Cirque du Soleil’s Love).

Fake Off, which is slated to premiere on truTV this fall, will take viewers into the visually stunning world of Faking, a mix of theater, acrobatics, black light and illusion. In an elimination competition unlike anything American audiences have seen before, teams will reimagine iconic moments in pop culture to see who’s got the skills to be named America’s Fake-Off Champions. Produced by Shine America.

Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas is the embodiment of a singer-actress-dancer best known as Chilli, one third of the iconic R&B group TLC. Originally a dancer, Chilli joined TLC in 1991. The group topped the charts throughout the ’90s, producing four studio albums and establishing their place as pop icons, with continuous television appearances and feature film cameos. In 1996 Chilli was listed as one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People. In 1999, on TLC’s album Fanmail, Chilli had her first lead single, “No Scrubs,” which went #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and won an MTV Music Award, two Grammys and various other awards. Following the tragic death of band mate “Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Chilli and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins went on to star in the reality show R U the Girl, followed later by Chilli’s own show, What Chilli Wants. Chilli flexed her entrepreneurial muscle in 2005, creating a line of handbags as an ode to her love and dedication to her son, Tron. She also became a proactive child advocate, forming her own non-profit, Chilli’s Crew, with a mission of fostering a healthy sense of self in young women from the inside out.

Harry Shum Jr. is well known for his starring role on the hit series Glee. In addition, he has starred in the independent features Revenge of the Green Dragons and White Frog and recently released, Moms’ Night Out. His other film credits include Fast & Furious 3: Tokyo Drift, Stomp the Yard, You Got Served and Center Stage 2.

Michael Curry works widely as a visual and concept designer for numerous companies, such as Cirque du Soleil, The Metropolitan Opera, London’s Royal National Theatre, Disney Theatrical Productions and the International Olympic Committee. He collaborates regularly with directors like Robert LePage, Nicholas Hytner, Julie Taymor and William Friedkin.

Robert Hoffman has been much sought-after for his skills as a dancer and choreographer. He shared an American Choreographer Award for the film You Got Served, in which he also co-starred. He also starred in Step Up 2: The Streets and has been seen dancing in such films as Guess Who?, Coach Carter, Pirates of the Caribbean and Vanilla Sky.

Award-Winning Sci-Fi Author launches teen summer reading program

 

(Atlanta, GA) As students are counting down the days in anticipation to summer break, teen sci-fi author Stone Erickson and Barnes & Noble Southlake announce Fantasy Book Bowl, a pre-teen and teen summer reading program. The Fantasy Book Bowl orientation kicks off on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Barnes & Noble Southlake with free snacks, prizes, activities and more. Pre-teens and teens will receive a list of top-rated fantasy books to read throughout the summer and meet bi-weekly for discussion.

Stone Erickson was awarded 2013 AALAS Sci-Fi Author of the Year to his surprise, which inspired him to launch the summer reading program to encourage his peers to read during the summer months. Stone Erickson a typical teen himself advocates kids to find books combining their interests. Pre-teens and teens participating in Fantasy Book Bowl will read a total of 6 fantasy novels during the program from May 31st- August 23rd. On each of the meeting dates a new book will be discussed from the reading list. Participants will be required to write an essay on the sixth book for the closing ceremony to be entered to win prizes sponsored by Microsoft and more and the Fantasy Book Bowl grand prize.

“I love playing video games as much as any other kid my age but I also love reading,” says Stone Erickson. “Fantasy books allow me to escape freely into the same world depicted in the games I play.”

TLC’S CHILLI DOES THE “NAE NAE” DANCE WITH MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Grammy Award-winning singer surprises students with Reeboks and teen group We Are Toonz

                                                              

 

(Atlanta, GA) Chilli of the Grammy Award-winning super group TLC surprised the students of Eagles Landing Middle School the morning of April 23, 2014 with their very own #ChillisCrewDay to kick off the school’s spring testing.  

Chilli recognized four Eagles Landing Middle School students who were selected by the Principal for their citizenship and community service setting a positive example for their peers. Reebok gifted these exemplary students with a pair of sneakers from their new collection. “I think it’s important to reward kids to keep them motivated,” Chilli said. “Yes we should reward good grades but we should also reward great character.” The students had no idea Chilli had another huge surprise to celebrate their hard work. As the deejay (World Famous G-Mack) dropped the beat for the popular dance craze “The Nae Nae,” the group We Are Toonz ran out onto the gym floor. In their excitement the kids stood up in the stands and danced “The Nae Nae” along with Chilli and We Are Toonz. 

 

Following the dance performance, students from each grade had a chance to battle each other for the best “Nae Nae”. Chilli and the group gave out prizes to the kids sponsored by V-103 Atlanta and rolling out Magazine. The singer also gifted Eagles Landing Middle School an autographed poster to frame as a reminder for the students to continue to do their best in school and serve as positive examples. The spring testing kick off assembly ended with students hugging and thanking Chilli for the unforgettable morning. Chilli’s Crew Day at Eagles Landing Middle School was made possible thanks to Reebok, V-103 Atlanta and rolling out Magazine. 

Chilli and her foundation partnered with the school to encourage students to achieve high scores once CRCT testing begins on Thursday March 24th. She took time out to visit after coming off a promo run for Oxygen’s Celebrities Undercover and in between TLC rehearsal for their upcoming overseas tour. TLC will begin an overseas tour starting in Australia then they are off to Japan at the top of the summer.

After brief introductions and mingling as they enjoyed Iwi Fresh’s organic mango tea, each of the bloggers picked out their own customized brown sugar/flax-seed scrub for their Sassy Girl Paint manicures.

The bloggers selected Sassy Girl Paint colors from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection to match their unique personalities. Ray Daniels & Author Stone Erickson co-host special edition of

Teen Talk for Boys

 

(Atlanta, GA) Epic Records Vice President of A&R/Raydar Family CEO, Ray Daniels and Award-winning Teen Author Stone Erickson mentored young boys at Kingsmen Teen Talk on Saturday March 15, 2014 in Atlanta, GA. The event created by Kingsmen Media Group invited Ray Daniels and Stone Erickson to speak candidly about the challenges young men face to accomplish their dreams especially in the African-American community.

16 year-old Author Stone Erickson kicked off the event with a Q&A about his personal experiences as a teenager himself and the inspiration for his first novel “Black Angel.” “My mother showed me you don’t have to quit, you don’t have to give up,” said Stone Erickson. The young author also critically discussed the challenges and stereotypes African-American males face from society and the educational system in regards to reading and writing. This stigma inspired Stone Erickson to launch a non-profit to celebrate the works of African-American males between the ages of 10-17. “The way our school systems and our society is set up, we do not endorse people to find what they like to read. Everyone likes to read but not everyone likes particular genres,” said Stone Erickson. “Kids should never close the door to reading. When you close the door to reading, you close the door to a lot of academic areas.” 

Music mogul Ray Daniels inspired the young men with his story on the road to living his dream despite growing up poor without a father. He discouraged them from using their circumstances as an excuse not to be great men. “I decided to never be a victim. I own my failures and I own my success,” said Ray Daniels. “Because I didn’t come from anything people didn’t expect me to amount to anything so I started working as if Bill Cosby was my father. People expect Bill Cosby’s son to be great.” Daniel also gave the young boys an impromptu lesson on manhood telling them to speak up, raise their hand proudly and look another man in his eyes when he speaking to you.

The young men in attendance at Kingsmen Teen Talk applauded and graciously thanked Ray Daniels and Stone Erickson for their inspiration. The mentees received prizes including singed copies of Stone Erickson’s “Black Angel”, a handheld Wii, and hats. They also enjoyed a free lunch and snacks provided by Kingsmen Media Group.

V-103 & GREG STREET PREMIERE CHELSEA’S NEW SINGLE

“ALL I DO”

  

R&B starlet Chelsea premieres her new single “All I Do” on Atlanta’s V-103’s DJ Greg Street show Tuesday March 11, 2014 airing 6PM-10PM. “All I Do” is the debut single from R&B’s newest “it girl” Chelsea.  The song features Bandit Gang Marco, one of the hottest underground artists in the south, as the object of Chelsea’s teenage love affair.  The up-tempo love ballad follows the two love-struck teens as they serenade each other with the promises of love and forever –within the confines of a high school romance.

The petite GA peach-in-training has always been competitive; playing every sport from Basketball, Swimming, Soccer and even Cheerleading, but admits she was a tad nervous about her first vocal performance. Chelsea serenaded an audience of her peers at a 5th grade talent show with her rendition of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On”. The rush from being on stage and the praise from her peers made the reward far outweigh the butterflies in her stomach. From that point on Chelsea was hooked on the feeling she received when performing onstage. Although she is still very young, Chelsea is dedicated to reaching her dreams. Her personal goal is to win a Grammy and be on the Billboard top ten charts before she turns twenty-one!  She understands the journey to superstardom isn’t an easy one. “Because I’m doing what I love I don’t mind working hard,” she says.

Chelsea’s sweet yet strong vocals are reminiscent of the young R&B femmes of the past including Tracy Spencer, Shanice and even Brandy. The catchy R&B song is the reality of young girls everywhere and a reminder to anyone who has ever experienced the array of emotions and butterflies consistent with falling in love for the very first time. The track is inspired by Faith Evans 1995 smash, ‘Soon As I Get Home’. The video was directed by The Dope Superlative and is available online now. “All I Do” is the official single off of Chelsea’s upcoming album.
